“ONE IN EIGHT WOMEN WILL GET BREAST CANCER, THE OTHER SEVEN WILL KNOW HER.”

These words from a breast cancer awareness pamphlet will forever be with me from my first visit to an infusion clinic. I was there to keep my mother company during her courageous battle against breast cancer. While sitting with Mom, I was stunned at the number and diversity of people who came through the clinic doors waging their own battles against cancer. “Every one of these patients has a story,” she would say, “And every story involves families and friends who are impacted. In a way, everyone is ultimately on this cancer journey together.”

Like so many others, my mother lost her fight against cancer. But also like so many others, her journey was an inspiring story of courage, hope, strength, and faith. It was also a testament to community. In the face of this prevalent disease, we are blessed to have a remarkable community of organizations and initiatives throughout the world that support cancer research, education, and outreach.

To support those patients battling breast cancer and to support those who are ultimately on the journey with them, we would encourage players worldwide to support a breast cancer initiative of their choice.
