JEFF VAN FOSSEN Bow Designer / Aerospace Engineer
After graduating from Princeton University with degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Jeff moved to Boston and began his career in engineering design and product development. His expertise in the design of structural components made of advanced materials involved him in development projects worldwide.
When Stan and Jeff first met, discussions of their related expertise in composite materials gravitated to their shared interest in music and eventually to Stan's long-standing development of a graphite fiber bow.
"Despite the fascinating scope of design projects on which I worked during my early career (Formula One race cars, spacecraft, and orthopedic devices), no application intrigued or inspired me so much as Stan’s pursuit of high-performance bows for stringed instruments. It was a truly pioneering concept."
They agreed that the leading technologies in material science and engineering could be united with traditional bowmaking principles to create a family of reliable, high-performance instruments that benefit players at every level.
